What you’ll do
The Product Quality Engineer (PQE) in Electrical will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of electrical products throughout the development and production processes.
This role ensures adherence to quality standards throughout the project/product lifecycle, from new projects, plant issues, audit deviations, and customer & field concerns. The PQE – Electrical, collaborates cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supplier quality teams to ensure mitigation or elimination of negative impacts to the production plant in a data-driven approach.
The successful candidate will utilize their expertise in electrical engineering and quality assurance to support continuous improvement initiatives, drive defect reduction, and enhance product performance.

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $95,000 - $120,000

What you’ll do

- Product Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement quality control processes for electrical products, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Root Cause Analysis:
- Investigate product failures and defects, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and eliminate causes of product issues.
- Proficient in the use of root cause analysis (RCA) techniques (i.e., 5 Whys or Fishbone Diagrams, etc...).
- Testing & Validation:
- Design and execute electrical tests, including functional, performance, and reliability testing, to validate product performance and durability.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Drive process improvements using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Shainin Red X principles.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Collect and analyze data from production and field performance to identify trends, provide insights, and recommend actions to improve product quality.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure proper documentation of quality control procedures, testing protocols, and product specifications. Support compliance with ISO, CE, and other relevant quality standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product development, manufacturing, and customer service teams to provide feedback and guidance on quality-related matters.
- Customer Interface:
- Interface with customers to address quality concerns, provide technical support, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Quality Management Systems (QMS):
- Support the Implementation and maintain QMS processes to comply with industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive quality improvements.
- Project/Product Development Support:
- Collaborate with design, R&D, and manufacturing teams to ensure quality is built into the product throughout the development stage and beyond.
- Support design reviews, DFMEA, PFMEA, and validation testing to identify and mitigate potential quality issues.
- Customer Focus:
- Monitor customer feedback, warranty claims, and field data to identify trends and address quality concerns.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for issues impacting overall quality, customer satisfaction, and brand image.
- Process Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and minimize defects.
- Utilize problem solving tools like Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Shainin Red X and statistical process control (SPC) to improve processes.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards for automotive systems.
- Keep up to date with new technological advancements in industry and implement best practices.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong Technical proficiency of electrical systems, components, and circuits.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 9001, IPC, and other relevant quality standards.
- Proficiency in using quality management systems (QMS) and statistical analysis software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, a high level of assertiveness as well as entrepreneurial thinking and goal- and result-oriented decision-making.
- Proficient with Quality Tools: APQP, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, SC.
- The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company 20-40% of the time.
- Travel: Potential international travel, and is passport required.

- Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, or a related field. Or equivalent years of automotive work experience.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in a product quality engineering role, preferably in an electrical or electronics manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in quality assurance methodologies (e.g., FMEA, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Experience with electrical testing equipment, tools, and techniques.
- Experience with automated testing systems and tools.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for electrical and electronic products, including safety standards.
- Certifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or equivalent certification is a plus.
