What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Supervision and Leadership:
    • Team Management: Lead, supervise, and coordinate a team of warehouse associates or dock workers involved in receiving operations. This includes managing staffing, delegating tasks, and ensuring that the team meets performance goals.
    • Training and Development: Provide training and support to team members on proper receiving procedures, safety protocols, and system usage (e.g., scanning systems, ERP software). Ensure ongoing skill development and adherence to best practices.
    • Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate the performance of dock staff, providing feedback and addressing any performance or behavior issues. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance metrics, safety updates, and operational improvements.
    • Workforce Allocation: Manage shift schedules and assignments to ensure adequate staffing at the receiving dock and handle peak periods without delays.
  • Receiving Operations and Material Flow:
    • Receiving Shipments: Oversee the process of receiving raw materials, components, and finished parts from suppliers or vendors. Ensure that goods are checked against purchase orders, packing slips, and other documentation for accuracy.
    • Inspection and Quality Control: Ensure that all received materials are inspected for quality and that damaged, defective, or incorrect items are flagged for follow-up and returns. Maintain clear records of such issues.
    • Material Storage: Ensure that received goods are properly stored, labeled, and inventoried. Oversee the efficient unloading, sorting, and organization of materials in designated storage locations.
    • Barcode Scanning and Inventory Tracking: Ensure that all items are scanned and entered into the inventory management system (e.g., ERP system) and accurately recorded. Help troubleshoot any inventory discrepancies or errors related to receiving.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Safety Protocols: Maintain a strong focus on safety by ensuring that all employees follow safety regulations and guidelines while operating forklifts, handling materials, and using equipment. Conduct regular safety training and enforce workplace safety standards.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and industry standards related to receiving, storing, and handling materials.
    • Equipment Management: Oversee the proper use and maintenance of receiving equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and dock levelers. Ensure that equipment is in good working order and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Problem Resolution and Issue Management:
    • Exception Handling: Manage and resolve any issues or exceptions that occur during the receiving process, such as damaged shipments, incorrect deliveries, or missing parts. Work with suppliers, logistics teams, and internal departments to resolve these issues quickly.
    • Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate discrepancies between received items and purchase orders, and ensure that corrective actions are taken (e.g., contacting suppliers or initiating returns).
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Accurate Record-Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all receiving activities, including delivery schedules, shipment status, inspection reports, and any issues or discrepancies.
    • Daily/Weekly Reporting: Provide regular reports to warehouse management on receiving performance, such as the number of deliveries processed, any discrepancies, and operational challenges or improvements.
    • Inventory Accuracy: Ensure that inventory records are updated accurately and promptly, and that material receipts are properly documented in the inventory management system to support production scheduling.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Process Optimization: Continuously look for ways to improve receiving operations, increase efficiency, and reduce errors. This might include implementing new technologies, streamlining workflows, or applying lean principles.
    • Kaizen and Lean Initiatives: Encourage the team to participate in continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste and improve receiving processes.
    • Root Cause Analysis: Identify recurring issues in receiving processes (e.g., inventory discrepancies or delays) and lead efforts to investigate and resolve these problems at the root cause.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Cross-Departmental Communication: Collaborate with other departments, including logistics, procurement, and production, to ensure timely and accurate receipt of materials and parts needed for manufacturing operations.
    • Supplier Coordination: Work closely with suppliers or transportation companies to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any issues that might arise with shipments.
    • Internal Coordination: Communicate with warehouse, inventory, and production teams to ensure smooth material flow from the receiving dock to the next stage in the production process.
Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina.
  • The responsibilities of this role require days attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Experience:
    • Warehouse Management Experience: At least 5 to 10 years of experience in warehouse management, receiving, or logistics operations, with a strong understanding of the processes involved in receiving materials and parts in an automotive manufacturing environment.
    • Leadership or Supervisory Experience: At least 3 years experience in a leadership or supervisory role, managing teams and overseeing dock or warehouse operations.
    • Inventory Control: Experience with inventory management, including tracking materials, managing stock levels, and ensuring accurate record-keeping of warehouse materials.
    • Process Optimization: Experience with process improvement initiatives, particularly in logistics or warehousing, using methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Educational Background:
    • Degree or Certification (Highly Preferred): A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field may be preferred. Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, APICS, or related logistics qualifications are also advantageous.
  • Skills:
    • Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team, providing direction and support to ensure effective operations.
    • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Ability to quickly identify problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.
    • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and ensure efficient material flow in the receiving area.
    • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in inventory tracking, documentation, and quality checks to ensure smooth operations.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with internal and external teams and report on operations effectively.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word).
    • Quality Management System: Detailed Knowledge and extensive Experience in Quality Management Systems (ISO, VDA, etc …) and related process requirements
  • Knowledge:
    • Receiving Procedures: In-depth knowledge of receiving operations, inventory management, material handling, and storage in the context of an automotive manufacturing environment.
    • Safety Standards: Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to warehouse and receiving operations, including forklift operation and material handling safety.
    • Quality Control: Knowledge of quality assurance procedures for inspecting and verifying materials upon receipt.
    • Inventory Management Systems: Experience using inventory management software or systems for tracking incoming goods and managing stock.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Detail-Oriented: Ability to carefully manage records, inspect materials, and ensure accuracy in all receiving tasks.
    • Multitasking and Time Management: Capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic, fast-paced automotive manufacturing setting.
    • Proactive: A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they escalate, maintaining smooth operations at the receiving dock.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $125,000.00
