As a Head Embedded / Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of embedded and electrical systems for Scout's electro-optical payloads. You will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary, hybrid team, ensuring that projects align with technical and business objectives, and driving innovation in embedded technologies. our contributions will play a pivotal role in building and managing a dedicated team, pushing our electrical and embedded architecture forward, and building and launching cutting-edge optical payloads.
Responsibilities :
- Lead electrical and embedded system architecture design for on-orbit sensor data capture and processing
- Understand and design for space environments constraints with an emphasis on minimizing size, mass, power, and cost
- Contribute technically to embedded and electrical design and development, including the migration of novel data and image processing algorithms to FPGA
- Contribute technically to designing, building, and testing electrical and embedded control systems for electro-optical payloads, including precise mechanism control.
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of embedded and electrical engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, technical expertise, and collaboration.
- Contribute to the organization's long-term goals by aligning embedded and electrical systems development with business objectives.
- Perform thermal and radiation analysis of board-level components
- Generate documentation to support manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test

Our positions are based in the Reston, Virginia area, with much of our team operating in a hybrid or remote fashion. Our preference is for candidates in or around this area (or willing to relocate) as we scale our facilities and engineering team and provide more opportunities to work and collaborate in-person. Remote employees will be required to travel for onsite work and in-person meetings.
