GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This full time, non-exempt, benefited position supports the missions and operations of Scouting America, Orange County Council and the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center.
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The Adventure Hill Director is primarily responsible for the operation, training, and safety of the Adventure Hill program at the IROEC. This includes management of a zipline, climbing tower, high ropes course, and low ropes course. The Director is part of the leadership team of the property, and will give oversight of operations, program development, and contribute to staff development.
REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum age requirement is 21
· Hold a current BSA COPE Director National Camping School certification or be able to earn and maintain certification within six (6) months of hiring
· Hold a current ACCT Level 2 Practitioner certification or be able to earn and maintain certification within six (6) months of hiring (alternative to BSA NCAP)
· Provide a facilitator portfolio demonstrating at least 200 hours of diverse facilitation experience.
· Maintain certification in Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED or be able to obtain certification within three (3) months of hiring
· Highly Desired: Former managerial experience in operations of ropes course program
· Highly Desired: Bilingual
JOB DUTIES:
· Responsible for supervising and overseeing high and low ropes, climbing tower, and zipline and all associated classes, lessons, activities, training, and curriculum.
· Support the overall operations of Scouting America, Orange County Council.
· Demonstrate proficient knowledge and implementation of mandated course safety standards and regulations in accordance with American Red Cross, Scouting America National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), American Camp Association (ACA), Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), and best industry practices.
· Must be able to maintain physical abilities to uphold certifications and act quickly in emergencies.
· Deliver high quality programming, personify professionalism, and exhibit excellent customer service to all staff and guests of the IROEC.
· Instructor development and in-service trainings.
· Assist in overall administration and facilitation of programs as needed.
· Collaborate with developing and implementing new programs and activities.
· Complete regular inspections and maintenance of program equipment and facilities.
· Maintain and uphold facility standard operating procedures including opening and closing the facility, class tracking, and staff development.
· Delivery of timely and professional feedback about inventory, personnel and program.
· Participates in IROEC and Scouting America, OCC staff meetings, training, and enhancement activities.
· Assist and facilitate programs and property needs in all areas as needed.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
