The Part-Time Maintenance Ranger is a vital member of the Newport Sea Base team, ensuring the upkeep and safety of our beautiful waterfront facility. This role requires a dedicated individual with a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our Scouting community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Groundskeeping : Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Sea Base grounds, including :
Mowing lawns and trimming edges
Weeding and cultivating flower beds and plantersRaking leaves and debrisEmptying trash and recycling receptaclesMaintaining the cleanliness of docks and waterfront areasBuilding Maintenance : Perform minor repairs and upkeep of buildings and facilities, such as :Painting and touch-ups
Minor carpentry and plumbing repairsReplacing light bulbs and fixturesAssisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment for programs and eventsEquipment Maintenance : Assist with basic maintenance and repair of small motors and equipment, such as :Outboard motors
PumpsSmall engines (e.g., lawnmowers, generators)Safety and Security :Conduct regular safety inspections of the property, identifying and reporting potential hazards
Ensure compliance with safety regulationsAssist with opening and closing procedures, ensuring the security of the facilityCustomer Service :Provide friendly and helpful assistance to visitors and staff
Respond to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional mannerQualifications :
High school diploma or equivalentPrevious experience in groundskeeping or maintenance preferredExperience with basic motor repair is a plusAbility to operate basic power tools and equipment (e.g., lawnmower, weed trimmer)Knowledge of basic safety proceduresStrong work ethic and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExcellent communication and interpersonal skills1Passion for the outdoors and the Scouting missionPhysical Demands :
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 poundsAbility to stand, walk, and bend for extended periodsAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditionsHours :
