The Part-Time Maintenance Ranger is a vital member of the Newport Sea Base team, ensuring the upkeep and safety of our beautiful waterfront facility. This role requires a dedicated individual with a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for our Scouting community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Groundskeeping: Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the Sea Base grounds, including:
- Mowing lawns and trimming edges
- Weeding and cultivating flower beds and planters
- Raking leaves and debris
- Emptying trash and recycling receptacles
- Maintaining the cleanliness of docks and waterfront areas
- Building Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and upkeep of buildings and facilities, such as:
- Painting and touch-ups
- Minor carpentry and plumbing repairs
- Replacing light bulbs and fixtures
- Assisting with set-up and tear-down of equipment for programs and events
- Equipment Maintenance: Assist with basic maintenance and repair of small motors and equipment, such as:
- Outboard motors
- Pumps
- Small engines (e.g., lawnmowers, generators)
- Safety and Security:
- Conduct regular safety inspections of the property, identifying and reporting potential hazards
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, ensuring the security of the facility
- Customer Service:
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to visitors and staff
- Respond to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in groundskeeping or maintenance preferred
- Experience with basic motor repair is a plus
- Ability to operate basic power tools and equipment (e.g., lawnmower, weed trimmer)
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands:
