Position Overview
We are looking for a self-starting, motivated person who excels at building relationships and enjoys sales, and marketing. This is an exciting career opportunity that is challenging and demands growth in the areas of fundraising, membership development, and volunteer recruitment.
District Executives are a diverse group, sharing a dynamic career offering independence, achievement, and stability. The executive is the manager of the Scouting non-profit in a designated district within central North Carolina. We are looking for someone to take ownership of growing the district in the key areas of finance, membership, and volunteer development – this is not a clock-in clock-out type of job and involves seasonal travel within the district. This is a first entry-level position that will most likely require relocating to another location to be able to advance in the organization.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Qualifications
- United States citizenship or declared intention to become a U.S. citizen
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Able to relocate or live in Union or Anson Counties, NC
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve district goals
- People-oriented, high-intensity customer service position requiring the ability to work well with adult volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations
- Able to work varied hours when necessary to achieve positive objectives
- Believe in Scouting America’s mission and values and are willing to subscribe to its principles and standards
- Eligible to receive a professional Scouting commission – a criminal background will be performed
- Non-profit, fundraising, sales, or marketing experience is a plus
Benefits
District Executives start at $45,000. Additionally, monthly compensation for vehicle and business phone usage is given. Other benefits include major medical and prescription coverage, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, accidental death, a defined benefit retirement plan, plus additional monthly compensation for business mileage. We also offer a PTO policy and fifteen-holiday observances. An annual increase in salary is determined by an individual’s overall performance.
Training: Comprehensive professional training opportunities are provided during the first three years of tenure. Annual training and development opportunities continue throughout the career.
