The Director of Golf will oversee the total golf operation and services offered including the golf shop, golf range, golf services areas and golf car operation including supervision of the head golf professional. The position will promote an exceptional "golf experience," and provide excellent services and programs for all patrons.
The Director of Golf shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying the SCP’s Culture & Core Values.
The Job

- Oversee the management and performance of all golf shop and applicable department operations and services; ensure high standards and total customer satisfaction
- Develop/coordinate the development of annual business plans for the golf operation
- Coordinate and ensure all written correspondence, reporting, newsletters, and communications for the golf operation
- Course Management: Ensure the golf course is maintained to the highest standards of playability and aesthetics.
- Develop and implement strategies for course improvement and sustainability.
- Coordinate with the grounds maintenance team to schedule maintenance activities and ensure minimal disruption to play.
- Cooperates with the grounds superintendent about maintenance issues that affect the playability of the golf course.
- Assists in the development of short- and long-range plans for improvements to the club facilities and courses.
- Enforce all rules and regulations governing golf course usage.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to members, guests, and visitors.
- Implement programs to enhance the overall golfing experience and exceed custom expectations.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a prompt and professional manner.
- Staff Management: Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and employee development.
- Make suggestions and recommendations regarding recognition and reward programs, safety management, performance evaluations, and team member relations.
- Assist with team member relations, including handling team member complaints and grievances and making recommendations and suggestions to GM and PS when necessary, regarding disc.
- Tournament Coordination: Organize and oversee golf tournaments, outings, and events.
- Coordinate with event planners, sponsors, and participants to ensure successful and memorable experiences.
- Manage tournament logistics, including registration, scoring, awards, and post-event follow-up.
- Designs and conducts golf clinics.
- Provide golf lessons to members and guests.
- Designs and conducts junior golf clinics and training programs.
- Revenue Generation: Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue through green fee sales, merchandise sales, and golf instruction programs.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth and implement initiatives to capitalize on them.
- Prepare and assist with Sales and Marketing needs; to meet and exceed revenue goals, as set forth by the General Manager.
- Prepares annual and monthly budgets for golf operations; takes corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
- Golf Pro Shop: Order merchandise for the golf shop, providing the best selection possible, as set forth by General Manager.
- Perform shop inventory per prescribed basis.
- Interpret and enforce club policies, rules, and regulations.
- Represents the club in area professional events including local, state, or national events with the approval of General Manager.
- Attends national and sectional conferences and meetings, merchandise shows, and educational and professional shows to encourage development and enhance the quality and image of the club.
- Attends as invited committee/staff/public meetings representing the facility
- Maintains visible presence on the course during peak times of play.
- Implements an overall safety program that conforms to OSHA standards for the golf department.
- Inspect, plan, and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
- Cultivate collaborative, mutually supportive relationships with other departments and co-workers.
- Prepare and adjust weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts.
- Assist team members with their job functions to ensure optimum service to guests, but in no instance should the Director of Golf spend more than 50% of their time assisting team members with their job functions.

Job Requirements
- Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit.
- Strong knowledge of golf industry trends, best practices, and regulations.
- Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency and empathy.
- Professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Proficiency in golf course management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with guests, vendors, and team members.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems and/or conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic math.
- Knowledge of maintenance of greens, fairways, and roughs.
- Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, and methods of play.
Supervision
- Reports to the GM.
- Responsible for supervising Golf Shop team members.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Sports Management, or related field (preferred).
- PGA membership or equivalent certification (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course management, preferably in a leadership role.
- Prior hospitality experience preferred.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to stand and move freely about the property for the majority of the shift.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally.
- Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to frequently handle objects and equipment to maintain the property.
- Must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat).
- Must be able to climb stairs occasionally, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat).
- Must be able to work in variable room temperatures.
- Must be able to work with loud noises.
