What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead, Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) - Point of Care Testing - Ambulatory position at Scripps Health?
This is a full time position, generally Monday through Friday. General clinic hours are 8am-5pm, with some locations with extended hours and weekends. This is a hybrid role with option to work from home. Must have flexibility to travel to all clinic sites (clinic locations range from Eastlake/Rancho San Diego to Encinitas/Vista). Includes $4,000 retention incentive and $3,000 relocation assistance for eligible new hires.

The Lead Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) will serve as a liaison between our lab and non-lab personne l conducting point of care testing at our various clinic locations across San Diego. The primary responsibility for the Lead CLS is to train LVNs, Medical Assistants, and other non-lab clinic staff on point of care testing. The Lead CLS will also assist in monitoring maintenance of annual competencies amongst the clinic staff and conduct mini-audits. Traveling will be involved, as the Lead CLS will collaborate with their counterparts to split coverage of multiple ambulatory care sites.

In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:

- Must remain in original Job Title
- Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- Baccalaureate Degree or degree acceptable by California Laboratory Field Services for the application of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Limited License.
- For Point of Care Leads: 2 years' experience in moderate or high complexity testing.
- Good critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with medical terminology and computer systems.
Required Certification/Registration:
- CDPH Licensure: MTA (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) Licensed to perform work in all areas of the Clinical Lab.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
- ASCP Experience with Epic software
- Point of Care Testing experience
- Epic experience

Minimum Rate (USD): 54.90 - Maximum Rate (USD): 79.75
