Medical Assistant - Same Day Clinic - Part Time - Carmel Valley

This is a benefited, part time (40 hours every 2 weeks) position working a varied schedule. Weekday shifts are generally 4-hr evenings, weekend shifts are generally 8-hr shifts. Every other weekend (both Saturdays and Sundays) and holiday flexibility is required. Located in Carmel Valley with the expectation to float to neighboring Scripps HealthExpress locations as needed.

What you'll do: 

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment
• Organize and perform patient care services that support the providers and clinic
• Front Office responsibilities such as registration, scheduling, patient check-ins, collecting co-pays and check-outs
• Clinical support by checking patient vitals, rooming patients, stocking exam rooms, point of care duties, immunizations, covid swabbing, and providing patient education
• Wide variety of acute care patients
• Patient volumes of 25 and up per day (sometimes as high as 50)
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
• Complete and accurate message taking
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
• Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
• Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics
