What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Nurse Extern - ICU Track position at Scripps Health?
Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospitals and 19 outpatient facilities, which treat half a million patients annually through 2,600 affiliated physicians.
This is a work study program for a student nurse extern interested in joining Scripps ICU training program as a new grad RN. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in providing care to patients and continue to grow your nursing skills. Work on a high acuity and fast paced unit – "learn by doing" with every patient, colleague and technology interaction.
Work collaboratively with the other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care. Patient care includes initial and routine assessments, planning and implementing a plan of care and evaluating patients' progress towards expected outcomes. Work collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
Upon successfuly completion of the extern experience, and once licensed, you will join the ICU Transition Program.
Scripps is hiring student nurse externs for ICU units located at Encinitas, Green, La Jolla, Mercy SD and Mercy CV. . This is a highly competitive position. Unfortunately, Scripps is unable to provide feedback to candidates not selected.
- Currently enrolled in final semester of nursing program, and College or University's work study program, graduating May/June
- Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction sin English, excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors.
- Enrolled in an accredited RN program with completion of Med/Surg II and Fundamentals of Nursing
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider
