Description

This is a per diem / casual position working a 12-hr shift varied schedule (generally 6am-6 : 30pm or 6pm-6 : 30am). Weekend flexibility preferred. Located at both Scripps Mercy San Diego (Hillcrest) & Chula Vista.

What you'll do :

  • Responsible for monitoring patients on cardiac and / or SPO2 (continuous oxygen saturation) via telemetry equipment.
  • This may include monitoring patients when transporting to and from procedures / units.
  • Interprets cardiac rhythms / SPO2 and reports changes to the RN.
  • Able to prioritize notification to the RN based on emergent patient care needs.
  • Identifies and maintains integrity of the telemetry system and reports all malfunctions and needed adjustments.
  • Responsible for printing telemetry strips and documenting per unit standards.
  • May be responsible for placing patient on cardiac / SPO2 monitor, change batteries, and set up leads.
  • May perform clerical and other duties as requested per unit standard.

    • Qualifications

    Required Education / Experience / Specialized Skills :

  • Must successfully complete the Scripps Health EKG Examination during interview process.

    • Required Certification / Registration :

  • American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers

    • Preferred Education / Experience / Specialized Skills / Certification :

  • Completion of formal telemetry training which may include; a class or online course, Electrocardiogram (EKG) or Arrhythmia Certification course or completion of a Paramedic, Cardio-Vascular, EMT, MD or RN program, or other cardiac related programs.
  • 6 months of Cardiac Monitoring experience.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Certification
