As a WIC Nutritionist, you will work in a clinic setting, determine WIC Program eligibility, provide WIC-administrative, customer support services, counsel basic and advanced nutrition care and breastfeeding services to perinatal women, and the parents/legal guardians/caregivers of newborn to preschool-age children by: Utilizing a Public Health approach to providing nutrition education to participants, including high-risk nutrition risk conditions. Consults with WIC Registered Dietitian as needed. Adhering to Scripps and California State WIC policies, and embracing California WIC philosophy of providing customer service, nutrition education and breastfeeding support.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition Services, Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics from an accredited college or university.
- At least six months experience in a community-based setting and/or not-for profit organization.
- Some experience providing nutrition education in a group or individual setting.
- Strong customer service skills and works collaboratively with people of all ages, social, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Experience in a fast paced office setting.
- Counseling experience within a public health and/or social service organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Mastered Degreed Nutritionist in a nutrition- related field.
- BS in Dietetics with the Verification Statement of Completion of academic requirements for the Dietetic Program in Dietetics (DPD).
- Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) Certification or Certified Lactation Counselors.
- American Sign Language Certification.
- One year experience in providing nutrition or breastfeeding education in a group or individual setting.
- Bilingual skills, (English/Spanish), (English/French), (English/Arabic) English/Vietnamese). Knowledge of California WIC computer system.
- One year experience with individual nutrition counseling or group counseling.
