Crew Leader/Lead Carpenter
Overview:
Scroggs Construction Services is seeking motivated Crew Leaders/Lead Carpenters to oversee remodeling, restoration, and new home construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive carpentry experience, and a willingness to grow within our expanding organization. This position involves supervising a crew, problem-solving complex carpentry challenges, and ensuring project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise a crew, including a Carpenter and Carpenter’s Helper, ensuring all carpentry tasks are completed efficiently.
- Work closely with project supervisors and coordinate with other trades as needed.
- Solve complex construction and remodeling issues independently.
- Oversee job site organization, cleanliness, and equipment servicing.
- Perform all aspects of carpentry, including rough and finish carpentry, demolition, and concrete work (e.g., footings and elevated structures).
- Establish and mark reference points for layouts and construction.
- Assist in preparing estimates, reports, and requisitions.
- Step in for supervisors when required.
- Mentor and manage crew members' development throughout their tenure.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum five years in a construction-related crew lead role, including at least two years in finish carpentry.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in operating all carpentry tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints for construction and remodeling projects.
- Strength and dexterity to handle heavy construction materials and work in various weather conditions.
- Supervisory and leadership abilities.
- Tools: Must have an extensive set of carpentry tools. Preference given to candidates who own all necessary tools.
- Licensing: Candidates must live within 30–45 minutes of Scroggs Construction Services.
- Attitude: Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to grow with the company.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay: $25.00–$35.00/hour, based on experience and skill set.
