We are looking for a hard-working Janitorial Technician to join our field team. In this role, your main tasks involve cleaning floors, washing walls, disposing of garbage, performing routine maintenance, and inspecting the premises. You should have some janitorial experience or be familiar with the safe use of sanitation products and equipment. Our ideal candidate is a team player who takes pride in doing a good and thorough job for each client.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize the client’s customized commercial cleaning checklist to perform all tasks to the standards established by ScrubCan Inc. Common tasks include:
    • Dust furniture, equipment, partitions, walls, etc.
    • Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops, floors, toilets, mirrors, tables, chairs, refrigerators, microwaves, etc in restrooms, break rooms, and/or kitchenettes
    • Replenish supplies in restrooms, break rooms, and kitchen
    • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or hand scrub floors using brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners
    • Empty trash cans and recyclables into disposal areas
    • Wipe down walls and woodwork, doors, wall hangings, baseboards, etc.
  • Produce quality work within pre-set time frames.
  • Use protective equipment correctly such as safety glasses and gloves when appropriate.
  • Perform other cleaning duties as specified in the schedule or requested by the Manager and Customer.
  • Lift 50 pounds unassisted up and down a full flight of stairs. Perform physical activity associated with general cleaning.
  • Identify potential safety or maintenance issues and communicate them to the client in the comments section on the customer checklist.
  • Arrive at work (client location) at the scheduled time, perform services to established standards and ensure the client’s facility is locked and secured when you finish and leave.
  • Clock in and clock out the proper locations and scheduled times.
  • Take a 10 min break after 3 hours on the clock and take a 30 minute lunch break after 5 hours into your work shift.
  • Handle special requests for customers as appropriate and note handling on the customer checklist and company paperwork.
  • Report any situation that needs to be known about to team lead so that immediate action can be taken.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures relating to the performance of tasks, use of products or supplies, and incident reporting.
  • Be willing to train and enhance knowledge in assigned duties.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in cleaning operations

Requirements:

  • You must have a valid CA driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation. Employees may be offered positions that may require driving a company vehicle or from one location to another.
  • Must be reliable, team-oriented, dependable, trustworthy, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, fingerprint-based criminal background check, physical (cost of physical examination rests on the applicant), and drug testing that will be used for informational purposes and not against the applicant.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to/from customers’ business.
  • Physical demands include walking and standing, climbing, bending, kneeling to clean floors by hand, push and pull objects, lift and move objects (including 20 lb vacuum), repetitive bending and lifting, and repetitive arm movements.
  • Uniforms provided by ScrubCan Inc. must be worn during work hours.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to speak and write English fluently and relay information between the team, customers, and office staff.
  • Detail-oriented – pays attention to details at each customer’s location, with extra attention to special requests.
  • Friendly and Professional – able to deal with customers when they are on-site while cleaning is being performed
  • Team player – Ability to work within a team where members depend on each other to get work done.
  • Self-starter - Able to identify work that needs to be done and do it without being instructed.
  • Desire to learn, seek new challenges, and take on additional responsibilities
  • Reasoning ability. Good common sense with the ability to solve practical problems.
  • Communication- Communicate with team and managers with information regarding the job or worksite
  • Flexibility (Relief/Floating in different areas or other nearby buildings) required.

Education / Experience:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of janitorial experience preferred

Work Environment:

  • This role operates within various facility settings, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
  • The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and requires adherence to safety protocols.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods
