SCS Interiors is growing and has an opening for a CAD Product Designer to join our team. This role requires the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure that our internal drawings match the specifications outlined by our customers. With hundreds of different products and materials, there is a wide variety of work to be done throughout the day. Products vary from aerospace seats to flooring, and anything in between.

Located in Duluth, Minnesota, SCS Interiors is an industry leader in aerospace interior upholstery. We also serve clients within marine, transportation, healthcare and other sectors. We design, cut, and sew upholstery for our clients using state-of-the-art equipment with style, comfort, and security in mind. POSITION SUMMARY: The individual in this position will be skilled in using CAD software to develop and retain controlled drawings for SCS Interiors’ products; maintain correct revision levels of drawings through the resolution of any internal and/or external customer issues with drawings; train personnel in the reading and use of the drawings; and oversee the proper use and distribution of drawings.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates data for production drawings
- Ability to create 2D & 3D modeling in relevant software,
- Maintains internal drawings,
- Creates internal and customer-driven drawings,
- Digitize new patterns from existing cut materials,
- Creates files to be used for automated cutting,
- Makes revision changes, as needed, to all appropriate drawings,
- Distributes all new or revised current drawings,
- Maintains all controlled drawings,
- Provides information to Sales Department for purchasing, estimating, and creation of parts in ERP database,
- Communicates with customers for necessary changes to drawings,
- Resolves any internal/external customer drawing issues,
- Meet with customers to develop new product design drawings
- Develop drawings for new products requested by customers,
- Distribute drawings and assure that customer-requested services are implemented (i.e. cutting and/or sewing of parts etc.).
- Work in cooperation with the web product team to prepare products for posting on the web
- Assist in the formatting of products for web posting.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an approved AutoCad design program or 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Prior knowledge of sewing or upholstery work preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand written and oral English instructions,
- Able to use equipment and tools necessary for the position responsibilities,
- Able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time (10 hours per day, not including breaks),
- Possesses a positive attitude, works effectively with the SCS Interiors’ Product Design team, and can work independently in completing assignments when on the job,
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models,
- Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
SCHEDULE: Onsite Monday to Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm
