Commercial Sewing Operator I (Mon-Thu 6:30am - 5:00pm)

SCS Interiors, located in Duluth, MN, serves individual and corporate clients within the aerospace, automotive, commercial, and maritime industries. Our primary business line is aviation. Within that, our primary client is Cirrus Aircraft. We are seeking to add a Commercial Sewing Operator to our team. If you have any prior interest or experience in sewing, we'd love to talk to you and give you a tour of our shop.

We use single stitch, double stitch as well as splitters and skivers. Our Juki pneumatic sewing machines (among many other tools) are high quality, and our shop is clean and well lit.

Utilizing sound prototyping and lean manufacturing principles, SCS Interiors cuts and sews upholstery for aircraft, autos, auditoriums, and other commercial entities. Our services and products are creative, cost-effective, and unique for each customer.

Desired Knowledge/Skills:

Education/Experience:

We will consider any combination of formal education and work experience. Seeking folks with prior industrial sewing experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write, and understand written and oral English instructions;
• Able to see clearly and in color;
• Able to lift and maneuver to 25 lbs repeatedly;
• Able to sit for extended periods of time;
• Ability to read CAD drawings (training provided);
• Regular on-site attendance is required;
• Able to use equipment and tools necessary for the position responsibilities;
• Able to follow directions;
• Is attentive to details and quality expectations;
• Has manual hand and wrist strength/dexterity for detailed sewing work;
• Able to follow company safety procedures;
• Is a team player, recognizing the interaction of all production activities and working with other staff members as needed, to complete all orders;
• Able to adjust to rapid change in timeliness, order priorities, and other parameters impacting quality delivery of all orders.

Salary: Starting at $21.75/ hour with set milestones for growth in role and responsibilities. If you meet the knowledge and skills test, you could be at $24/hour within 6 months, $26.50 after 3000 hours worked, and $29/hour after 7280 hours worked.
