General Description
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of PROGRAM SPECIALIST ASSIGNED TO SUPPORT SERVICES (IN-STATE EXTRADITION) . This position coordinates the transportation of inmates to and / or from external Correctional Facilities.

Typical Duties
Communicate transportation procedures with correctional facilities and other law enforcement agencies where offenders are being housed.
Serve as contact person for all transportation personnel within assigned territory.
Review, handle and distribute all related travel and transportation documents.
Retrieve all teletypes, warrants, transport information and court orders from paperwork received from Building 100 and the transportation mailbox in Booking and email.
- Confirm warrants are currently active by conducting warrants check utilizing Seminole County Warrants and NCIC / FCIC.
- Ensure all court orders contain the Judges signature and Clerk of the Court Seal.
- Review all teletypes pertaining to inmate transports.
Any court orders, which are returned, must also be documented along with explanation of return.
Upon processing and verifying teletypes, warrants and court orders, notify the appropriate agency to confirm the inmate location and status and make transportation arrangements.
Schedule transport of inmates with Support Service Deputies or the transport company. Provide transport list to the transporting Deputy, Booking Supervisor and a copy for file.
Check any outstanding contracted transport pick-ups for completion daily.
Provide transporting Deputies with information on inmates with special needs as well as travel routes.
Maintain a database of inmate transports.
Responsible for answering or making phone calls.
Provides a variety of services to the assigned division, department or section.
Maintains the necessary files and records to insure access to desired information. Files can include administrative files, statistical information, medical coding and other materials related to office functions.
Analyze or assembles data, prepares letters, notices, reports and other correspondence from draft documents and / or edited reports.
As required, assists with clerical duties throughout the office.
Utilizes division / department specific software to assist, gather, investigate and / or compile information for the assigned division or section.
Routes telephone calls, answers inquiries and processes complaints from the general public, providing assistance in resolving various problems and referring matters as appropriate.
Coordinates and / or schedules meetings, conferences, and appointments as needed for assignment.
Different job tasks may be assigned depending upon assignment such as maintenance of equipment, processing of departmental purchase order / requisitions, utilizing mapping technology to assist Felon Registrar, scanning of documents into different software systems, providing technical support to users, etc.
Prepares confidential documents as required.
Performs other duties as required or as necessary for the effective and efficient operations of the Sheriffs Office.

Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, and required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs and calls for service during times of an emergency.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, business English, spelling, punctuation, arithmetic, modern office practices and procedures, including record-keeping methods; of all SCSO computer programs such as Caf, SCSONet, MICAD, TUSCON and ability to become FCIC / NCIC certified if needed for assignment.
Ability to maintain confidential information; to work independently and with little supervision on a variety of complex issues; to research, organize, and prepare accurate reports, summaries, and / or tabulations; to meet with and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, agencies, offices, and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment for this position is in an office atmosphere. Work is generally performed during normal business hours although the incumbent may be required to work any schedule that fulfills the needs of the position. Some assignments may be within the confines of a correctional facility, have direct contact with inmates or prior inmates, and / or be subject to an "on call" status.

External applicants for employment will submit to a thorough background investigation, which includes, but not limited to, past employment / education verification, driver license review, credit history, prior drug use history, arrest / conviction record, and computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA) testing. A certified examiner administers the CVSA with questions addressing illegal drug use and general questions of honesty and criminal history. Any dishonesty or deception on the Employment Application will disqualify your application.
The background investigation process may take 3-6 months depending upon the complexity of the applicant's background and position for which you've applied. Applicants selected for employment will be provided a conditional offer and required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.
