Position Summary
The Family, Nutrition and Health Program Leader provides leadership and an expansive vision for innovation and excellence of the interdisciplinary Family and Consumer Sciences.
Responsibilities include identifying emerging issue, prioritizing programs, developing, and maintaining university-wide and external partnerships, securing, and managing resources for extension education and applied research projects, ensuring innovative and impactful program implementation, and advancing health equity and well-being.
Education:
· An earned doctorate degree in a related field.
· At least one graduate degree, preferably a doctorate, must be in Family and Consumer Sciences, Public Health, Nutrition, Education, Community Development, Program Evaluation, or another related field.
Experience:
· Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably land-grant systems, or comparable organizations with significant recognition within a field of specialization.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Outstanding record of research-based Extension/community-engaged programming.
· A demonstrated understanding of the Land Grant mission.
· Evidence in successful grant and contract acquisition and management for interdisciplinary approaches.
· Demonstrated ability to contribute to and respect SC State 1890 Research and Extension strategic plan.
· Evidence of leadership, teamwork, collaboration, excellence in human relationship skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Experience with curriculum development and evaluation.
· Ability to collect data and transform data into reports.
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to the program and program area where Extension Agents operate.
· Ability to develop and implement operating policies and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with the public, contractors, local business owners, and Constitutional Officers.

· Major Responsibilities include Providing leadership and oversight of Family, Nutrition and Health Extension programs, scholarship, and applied research projects.
· Securing and managing extramural funding to support Family, Nutrition and Health extension · programs and research projects.
· Providing direction for FCS programs, including needs assessment, program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of outcomes.
· Ability to work a consistent 8:30 am to 5:00 pm work schedule and frequent evenings and weekends.
· Developing and maintaining external partnerships with organizations and agencies such as academic institutions, local/state/federal agencies, industry groups, and non-profit organizations. ·
· Providing leadership and program evaluation to faculty in long-range planning, reporting, professional development, and grants.
· Mentoring staff to ensure clarity of expectations for Extension programming, scholarship, service, and teaching, providing opportunities for success as an Extension Educator while instilling professional confidence and pride. Providing leadership, promotional guidance, and coaching to career ladder track.
· Conducting annual program and staff evaluations, including approval of individual Extension plans and delivery of annual EMPS reviews to county and state faculty and staff as needed. · Providing annual reports and impacts for Federal agencies and other organizations as appropriate.
· Facilitating collaboration among SC State nutrition and health programs at regional and · state and national levels, including EFNEP, South Carolina SNAP-Ed program.
· Serving as a member of the SC State 1890 Extension administrative team, which includes program leaders in Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources, 4-H Youth Development, Education, and Innovation, Community Economic and Development and Regional Directors. · Assisting in recruitment, hiring, and retention of staff in critical areas of need for Extension while fostering a thriving environment.
