What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUPERINTENDENT position at SD Crane Builders, Inc.?
This position provides field management for every phase of construction and represents the company concerning all on-site matters to produce projects on time and with the upmost customer service. The Superintendent is the on-site project leader responsible for overall execution of the work in accordance with the contract and subcontract documents. The Superintendent enforces the company’s work ethic on the job site regarding all Vendors and Subcontractors. This position communicates schedule expectations to Subcontractors in a consistent and relatable manner to ensure maximum productivity. This position creates a culture of safety at the job site and sets the tone for achieving positive safety results on the project. The Superintendent is the General of the project; this position must understand all aspects of each assigned job to maintain the company’s on-site reputation to further the company’s ability. You should always perform all these tasks at the highest level of integrity. The various Duties and Responsibilities of the Superintendent are as follows:
- Ensure project is started and completed on time.
- Be able to read and understand job scopes, schedules, plans, etc.
- Quality control.
- Assure safety (i.e. PPE/hard hats/vests are worn on job site, sign in sheets are completed, etc.)
- Maintain Site security including badging, secure site daily, etc.
- Oversee scope of work is being followed per contracts for all Subcontractors.
- Schedule Subcontractors
- Have consistent knowledge of job schedule.
- Complete Daily reports and email updates
- Call and coordinate with Blue Stake.
- Schedule testing and inspections
- Coordinate public utilities.
- Collect and track all MSDS sheets.
- Communicate with Clients, Project Team, and Subcontractors.
- Take initiative on project
- Have and maintain problem solving skills.
- Maintain clean job site (i.e. signage, banners, fencing, trash, dust control, subcontractor daily cleaning, etc.).
- Know and understand the Owner contract.
- Assist with submittal reviews.
- Be aware of OSHA regulations and maintain regulations onsite.
- Track all jobsite Vendors, Suppliers, and equipment rental and provide to Office Manager.
- Maintain As-Builts and all necessary field related closeout documents
- Manage and obtain all permits for required work.
- Attend SOQ interviews as required.
- Notify Project Manager of any scope changes and/or cost impacts from subcontractors or any delays due to weather or other circumstances.
- Track time and material tickets.
- Notify Project Manager of RFI’s.
- Hold weekly job site safety meetings.
- Coordinate above ceiling conflicts
- Attend kick off meetings, job walks, or preconstruction meetings.
- Inform Estimating Department of new leads/ jobs
