SD Solutions is seeking an Intermediate AI/ML Scientist with a strong background in generative AI, software development, AI/ML engineering, and a keen understanding of AI/ML policy and strategy. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our AI/ML capabilities and developing innovative solutions that drive impactful health research and health improvement initiatives at ARPA-H.
Responsibilities Include
- Design, implement, and optimize machine learning models and algorithms with a focus on generative AI techniques.
- Conduct experiments and iterate on models to achieve high performance and scalability while addressing specific health-related challenges.
- Collaborate with software development teams to build robust and efficient software solutions that integrate AI/ML technologies.
- Ensure code quality and performance through best practices in software engineering, including version control, testing, and documentation.
- Contribute to the development of AI/ML policies and strategies that align with organizational goals and ethical standards in healthcare.
- Analyze the implications of AI/ML advancements on health research and suggest frameworks for responsible AI use.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including researchers, product managers, and domain experts, to define project requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Foster knowledge sharing and collaborate on innovative approaches to leverage AI/ML across various health projects.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI/ML, particularly in generative models and their applications in healthcare.
- Conduct literature reviews and apply state-of-the-art techniques to solve complex problems in health research.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and developers, promoting skill development in AI/ML methodologies and tools.
Requirements Overview
- Master's or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a federal government project management, research, or policy development within the health sector, preferably in a government or research environment.
- Prefer at least 1 year experience supporting DARPA or related Federal "ARPA" agencies (IARPA, ARPA-E, ARPA-H, HSARPA).
- Alternate preferable experience at NIH, CDC, FDA, Public Health Service, NSF, USDA, State Health Department, or Local Health Department.
