South Dakota State University (SDSU) Miller Wellness Center Counseling Services is looking for a new Assistant Director. As the Assistant Director for the Miller Wellness Center Counseling, you will play a pivotal role in the overall well-being and success of students by working closely with the Director and counseling staff. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for leadership and supervision of the SDSU Counseling Services. Maintain collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and university administrators; provide training and consultation regarding the prevention and early intervention of mental health problems which may jeopardize a student’s success or compromise the safety and wellbeing of the campus community; and participate in university-wide efforts to support and improve student life and retention. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in Counseling or directly related field completed by date of application;At least three years of experience monitoring programs that have contributed to student success:Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing;Ability to create and facilitate presentations, reports, portfolios, and other documents;Ability to communicate with individuals of various backgrounds; andAbility to communicate knowledge of complexities of college mental health delivery services. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience in a leadership role in a college setting; Previous supervisory experience;Demonstrated ability to provide vision, training, supervision and leadership to a department;Strong relationship management skills and demonstrated commitment to student learning; andDoctorate degree.
