South Dakota State University (SDSU) Office of Admissions is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Coordinator of Recruitment. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us in meeting the enrollment and recruitment goals of the university and Wokini Initiative. Wokini, a Lakota word for “a new beginning” offers programming and support to those citizens of the nine tribal nations in South Dakota interested in gaining access to educational opportunities at South Dakota State University. This position will work closely with the SDSU Office of Admissions and American Indian Student Center leadership.  South Dakota State University promotes access to and opportunities for all to receive the benefit of and participate in education, research, and service and is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to this land-grant mission of access. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.   RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish relationships with leaders in tribal education (K-12 and post-secondary) and tribal communities.Professionally represent SDSU at tribal recruitment events, college fairs, high school visits, and other off-campus programs.  Plan and implement campus visit programming aimed at providing opportunities for American Indian students. Meet with prospective students and families that visit the SDSU campus.Successfully manage assigned territories to meet engagement and enrollment goals of the university.Establish an effective communication program with students and their parents and partners from an assigned territory including telephone, written communication, email, and social media. Determine admission status of freshman students. Respond to phone calls for information. Tele-counsel with prospective students about admission processes. Develop pre-college programs designed to promote success in higher education.Participate in Professional Service as assigned.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree completed by start date. Demonstrated experiences working with a variety of audiences.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong electronic, telephone, and public communication skills.Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.Strong interpersonal skills.Ability to work as a contributing team member. Self-starter with demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies and direct effective programs. Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and ability to travel extensively with flexibility in work hours. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Previous experience working with Tribal communities and knowledge of SD tribal communities.Knowledge of SDSU, South Dakota, and the Midwest. Demonstrated experience with student recruitment specific to underrepresented populations.Demonstrated leadership in developing or leading educational programs.BENEFITS:South Dakota State University offers a wide range of benefits including medical, dental, and flexible benefits, retirement plans, compensation packages, paid holidays, and vacation leave.  Employees also have access to internal and state-sponsored training as well as reduced tuition for state-supported courses at all State of South Dakota academic institutions.APPLICATION PROCESS:This system will guide you through the electronic application form.
