The University Libraries of the University of South Dakota (USD) seeks a collaborative, user-focused and service-oriented individual to serve as the Digital Access Librarian of the Wegner Health Sciences Library. The overall purpose of this position is to support students, faculty, staff, and Wegner Partners’ access to USD Libraries’ supported information resources and services. This position helps inform the e-subscription renewal process and ensures institutional compliance with information resource licenses and agreements. This position collects and provides statistical information through utilization studies, surveys, and user studies that will aid faculty and staff in making data-informed resource and collections decisions. The individual in this position may also provide information on a wide array of other library services including technology, equipment, reserves, spaces, and more. This position reports to the Head of the Wegner Health Sciences Library.Specific responsibilities include:Data collection and the use of designated software systems to provide usage statistics to inform evidence-based library collection management and service decisions.Work as part of the Access Services Team to provide excellent service to library users including circulation, reference, and interlibrary loan services.Represent Wegner Library at conferences and participate in continuing education opportunities related to library services and technologies, data visualization, and interlibrary loan services.Create and maintain online guides and tutorials.Understand, educate others, and implement copyright and open access policies and initiatives.Research issues, analyze problems, and work collaboratively to achieve appropriate solutions.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:1-3 years of experience in a public, academic, or special library.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Commitment to excellent public services, and continuous improvement of the library user experience.Organization, management, analysis, and the ability to thoughtfully present data in multiple formats.Strong communication skills including diplomacy in order to provide services to users from multiple partner institutions with varying levels of online information access.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.Self-directed learning and ability to adapt to change.Demonstrated professionalism and collegiality.Demonstrated skills in collaboration and teamwork within a continually evolving environment.Preferred Qualifications:MLIS or MLS from an ALA accredited institution.Data visualization skills and knowledge of software such as Tableau.Experience with interlibrary loan systems such as ILLiad, OCLC, Docline, or TipasaExperience with ExLibris Alma/Primo.Application Procedure:Please apply online at https://yourfuture.sdbor.edu/postings/TBD along with a curriculum vitae, cover letter addressing your qualifications, and contact information for at least 3 professional references.Review of applications will begin on October 2, 2023 and continue until the position is filled.U.S. sponsorship is not available for this position.
