Black Hills State University is seeking applicants to fill the position of Peer and Internship Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Peer & Internship Coordinator will manage the day-to-day functions of the BHSU internship program including relationship building with community partners and identifying student internship participants. It will further, manage the Peer Mentor Program, directing 25 mentors and 100 mentees. Finally, this individual will construct a campus-wide program model for work study positions so that part time, on campus work results in meaningful, high-impact experiences for students by reimagining work study as an internship experience.DUTIES:Serve as a liaison with Spearfish Economic Development Corporation and Elevate Rapid City to develop internship opportunities with both organizations.Recruit and collaborate with local employers and academic departments to develop internships that will accommodate the needs of students and academic programs.Work closely with students to identify desired internship opportunities and match them with community and campus resources.Develop and implement a student mentor selection process, a paraprofessional student training and assessment model for student mentors.Meet regularly with and be the point person for all tasks with regard to the Peer Mentor program and GS100 Peer Mentor assignments.Track student mentee course progress and determine necessary interventions.Coordinate tutoring and early intervention efforts based on student mentor reporting.Establish a communication process to provide updates to faculty regarding students needing additional assistance and attention.Establish high impact outcomes for student work study employment opportunities.Other related duties as required.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years relevant experience.Well-developed interpersonal communication, problem-solving, decision-making and prioritization skills.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s degreeDemonstrated ability in advising and student developmentExcellent writing and composition skills.Ability to be self-directed and to complete tasks without supervision.TO APPLY:Applications must be made at http://yourfuture.sdbor.edu.
