What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Researcher, QE8572 position at sdbor-sb?
The Pietri Lab (http://pietrilab.weebly.com) is focused on understanding the dynamics and mechanisms of insect-bacterial interactions across a spectrum of medically relevant species. We employ diverse approaches and tools drawing from the disciplines of microbiology, molecular cell biology, and medical entomology. We are currently seeking multiple postdoctoral fellows for NIH and HUD funded projects investigating vector-borne pathogen transmission and microbial interactions in cockroaches and bed bugs. Possible projects include: (1) understanding the dynamics and mechanisms of Salmonella colonization of cockroaches, (2) exploring the effects of the cockroach gut microbiota on pathogen colonization and related aspects of host physiology, (3) conducting molecular surveillance of field-collected bed bugs for the presence of human pathogens, (4) examining the vector competence of bed bugs for emerging pathogens and the factors that influence this. Under the direction of the PI, the postdoctoral fellows will be expected to independently perform experiments using established protocols, develop new protocols, collect and analyze data, organize results for presentation and publication, mentor and supervise junior scientists, and contribute to the daily operations of the lab. Positions are funded for three-five years with extensions contingent on performance.Interested applicants must include a cover letter summarizing research experience, research interests and career goals, a curriculum vitae, and contact information for three professional references. All materials should be posted to The University of South Dakota online employment website at https://yourfuture.sdbor.edu. Review of applications will begin on January 3, 2023 and continue until position is filled.
