Black Hills State University is seeking applicants for a full-time Apprentice Electrician.The primary responsibility of this position will be to assist BHSU, Facilities Services, with electrical repair and maintenance as needs arise on the Spearfish and Rapid City campus’.DUTIES:Electrical – Installs new or repair damaged, or worn electrical wiring and fixtures in buildings to maintain safe and continued operation of the facility.Preventative Maintenance and Repair – Completes general maintenance inspections on parts and equipment to ensure continued and safe operations.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:Knowledge of local, state and federal electrical codes.Knowledge of appropriate installation and repair techniques.Able to operate the necessary tools of the trade.Climbing and working from ladders.Perform heavy lifting and physical labor.Climb steps while carrying heavy objects.REQUIREMENTS:Follow oral and written instructions;Operate motorized vehicles, hand and power tools, and related equipment;Interact professionally with co-workers and patrons;Have regular and reliable attendance;Occasional travel to Rapid City campus;Vocational training and commercial experience preferred.Must have or obtain an active apprentice license or two years of electrical experience.TO APPLY:Applications for this position must be made online at http://yourfuture.sdbor.edu.
