This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead employee relations activities by performing a variety of duties to promote employee welfare, such as performance management and supervisor support, employee support, remote work agreements, ADA accommodations, etc; Lead investigations and guide supervisors through performance issues, discipline processes, and grievances; Communicate with university leaders to provide guidance and training on employee relations issues as well as navigate more complex issues as they arise; Interview employees and discuss personnel and performance related problems that adversely affect morale, health, and productivity;Evaluate and assist in the resolution of human resources and performance related problems; Explain and provide advice to employees about university, SDBOR, and state rules, regulations, and procedures, and the need for compliance; andSupervise Employee Relations Specialist/Trainer. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field by time of appointment;At least three years of experience in human resources/employee support work or related;Demonstrated ability to use discretion and excellent judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work under multiple deadlines;Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and explain policies and procedures;Demonstrated ability to influence others and be persuasive when facing resistance;Demonstrated ability to conduct an investigative interview;Strong organizational, critical thinking and analytical skills;Ability to work effectively with people at varying levels within the University;Ability to display a high level of professionalism;Customer service focus; andEffective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
