Northern State University invites applications for a 12-month CSA position as an Information Technology Specialist. This position will support existing university and system-wide administrative applications and will assist in the development and implementation of new or improved applications. Software systems include; student, human resources, finance, financial aid, admission and recruitment, document imaging, resource scheduling and related systems.The applicant will work on multiple phases of information systems development using established SDLC guidelines. Assigned tasks include documenting project requirements, process design, application development and testing, technical documentation, training, and implementation of projects requested by university personnel.Duties will include working with team members to analyze, trouble-shoot, and resolve reported problems, develop reports, perform data analysis for user departments, and test new or enhanced functions of system software applications.The applicant must have a working knowledge of database design and practical knowledge of SQL. Experience with business intelligence solutions such as Cognos or other BI reporting tool is preferred but not required. Prior working experience in a higher education environment is highly desired. Exposure to Lean/Agile methodologies is a plus.The applicant must exhibit an excellent customer service base with the ability to interact positively with internal and external clients through verbal and written communications. The incumbent should be able to organize, manage, and work on multiple projects with strong time-management skills.The applicant will have a bachelor’s degree in a computer or programming related field (equivalent training and experience may be considered) and 2-3 years of demonstrated programming experience.
