Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Testing: Perform a wide range of diagnostic tests, including but not limited to chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, and serology on patient specimens.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, monitor controls and performance standards, and ensure that all results meet quality assurance guidelines.
- Test Result Analysis: Interpret and analyze test results, identifying any abnormalities or discrepancies, and providing accurate results to physicians for diagnostic purposes.
- Specimen Handling: Properly handle, label, and store patient specimens to ensure accuracy and safety during testing.
- Reporting Results: Accurately document and report lab results to healthcare providers through the Laboratory Information System (LIS) in a timely manner.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to CLIA, CAP, and other relevant accrediting bodies’ standards and ensure that all laboratory procedures and documentation are compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment, ensuring all instruments are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other laboratory personnel, including phlebotomists, lab assistants, and supervisors, to ensure seamless laboratory operations.
- Inventory and Supplies: Monitor laboratory inventory and supplies, ensuring that necessary materials are always available for testing and that waste is minimized.
- Training and Development: Stay updated on new lab technologies, methodologies, and best practices by attending continuing education programs and internal training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field required.
- Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in the state of practice (e.g., California CLS license) and be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
- Experience: 1-3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred, especially in areas such as molecular diagnostics, blood banking, or microbiology.
- Skills:

◦ Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in molecular diagnostics or specialized testing such as PCR, NGS (Next- Generation Sequencing), or immunohistochemistry.
- Familiarity with LIS systems and laboratory automation.
- Ability to manage high-volume workloads in a clinical environment.

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
