What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at SDL Search Partners?
A Construction company in Southern New Hampshire is looking to add a Controller to its team. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller would oversee a team of 7 and oversee all accounting aspects. Prior experience in the Construction industry is required, especially experience with Percentage of Completion (POC) Accounting.
**This role is fully onsite**
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CFO to develop and implement financial strategies, policies, metrics, and procedures to enhance financial and operational management, including budgeting, accounting, and compliance.
- Oversee preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and other compliance obligations, such as DOL, IRS, 401(k), and DCAA.
- Manage annual audits, external financial reporting, tax compliance, and preparation of audit materials in coordination with CPA firms; lead gap analysis and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions, oversee ERP system operations, and analyze key financial and operational metrics to inform decision-making and optimize cash flow and working capital.
- Lead financial control systems, align organizational performance with budgets, manage banking and bonding requirements, and ensure employee compliance with safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- 15 years of experience with Construction Accounting (Percentage of Completion)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience managing teams of 5 people
