Custodian

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

As a custodian for The Technology House, you will be responsible for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition. You will perform heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish from the building, and cleaning snow or debris from the sidewalk. Your duties will also include notifying the Facilities Manager of the need for repairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow and initial the cleaning and maintenance schedule for each department which may include cleaning floors, emptying trash, and servicing restrooms
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using equipment and chemicals
• Follow proper procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent harm to people and facility
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Monitor building security and safety by removing or reducing hazards, including but not limited to ensuring doors are locked and checking electrical appliances, and notifying managers using current procedures
• Aid in the setup, arrangement, and removal of furniture to prepare facilities for events (i.e., customer visits, company events)
• Other duties as assigned

• Experience with light maintenance (i.e., assembling furniture, replacing fixtures)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks
• Manual dexterity skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time

ITAR REQUIREMENTS

The Technology House has a responsibility to comply with all applicable requirements set forth by International Traffic Arms Regulations, or ITAR (22 CFR 120-130). As such, this position may have access to ITAR controlled information, and the candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States.
