JOB SUMMARY
The lamination supervisor works with a crew of laminators to build fiberglass parts of the boat that may include the deck, hull, or small parts. Using hand layup process to apply the skin coat and bulk coat laminate, core materials and final layer of laminate, the laminator builds any fiberglass part used in the process. Leading a team is a large factor in the success of this process. The laminator supervisor can perform all the basic duties of the lamination process such as defect-free fiberglass roll out, laminate sanding prep, part inspection and defect removal and startup and shutdown duties.

This job operates in a manufacturing plant environment and requires exposure to chemicals such as gel coat, acetone, etc. The lamination area is not air conditioned and requires working during hot weather. Requires ability to work in high temperatures during summer months along with increased humidity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the day-to-day workflow of lamination staff.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely, constructive, and align with the Sea Fox vision/mission.
- Ensures timecards and payroll information is entered in a timely and accurate manner.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance and cooperation with HR and company policy.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for mold care, prep and upkeep.
- Develop and train employees.
- Perform startup and shutdown tasks according to processes.
- Reduce fiberglass defects (air bubbles, dry glass, etc.)and quality issues.
- Be responsible for quality, cost control, scheduling.
- Adhere to current written procedures.
- Inspect laminates to make sure all the material has been placed in proper locations. This includes all knit materials and cores.
- Follow all safety guidelines.
- Help control consumable usage as well as raw material usage.
- Keep all fiberglass off the floors and keep work area clean and organized at all times.
- Keep tools and equipment (Resin Guns) clean and in proper working condition in accordance with gun owners.
- Be able to work overtime if asked to do so.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- At least 5 years of fiberglass experience in a manufacturing environment (boat building preferred).
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate effective across multiple teams and with multiple departments.
- A passion for quality.
- Previous experience with lamination and composites.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires lifting, standing, kneeling, bending – getting in and out of boats up to 8 hours per day.
