Position Summary:
The Outboard Engine Installer is responsible for the proper installation, alignment, and testing of outboard engines on newly manufactured boats. This role ensures all marine propulsion systems are installed to manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install outboard engines on various types of boats during the production process
- Align engines accurately using mechanical measuring tools and alignment equipment
- Route and connect fuel lines, electrical harnesses, steering components, and control cables
- Perform engine mounting, torque fasteners to specification, and secure all components
- Conduct preliminary engine tests to verify proper function and troubleshoot minor issues
- Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure compliance with technical drawings and performance standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following OSHA and company safety guidelines
- Record installation data and report defects or deviations in equipment or workmanship
- Assist with rigging and system integration as needed (e.g., electronics, gauges, trim systems)
- Follow production schedules and meet daily/weekly output goals
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in marine mechanics is a plus
- 1 years of experience in outboard engine installation or marine mechanical systems preferred
- Familiarity with outboard engine brands such as Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, or Honda
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and assembly instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
- Manufacturing floor or boatyard setting
- Exposure to noise, vibration, and marine equipment
- May require overtime or shift work depending on production demands
