We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Preschool Director to lead our early childhood education program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in education administration, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for children. The Preschool Director will oversee the supervision of up to 10 full-time teachers and assistant teachers, various part-time staff, and kitchen staff. They will collaborate closely with a Business Operations Manager, who will manage administrative tasks such as HR, billing, and invoicing. This position ensures compliance with all state licensing requirements while fostering a high-quality educational experience for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the preschool, ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for children.
- Develop and implement educational programs aligned with developmental standards and the preschool’s mission.
- Supervise and support staff, fostering professional growth and maintaining high standards of care and education.
- Collaborate with the Business Operations Manager on administrative processes, including HR and billing tasks.
- Manage budgeting and financial planning to ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and community stakeholders to create a collaborative culture.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements, including staffing, safety, and education standards.
- Conduct regular assessments of educational programs, staff performance, and operational efficiency to make necessary improvements.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:
- A college or university degree in early childhood education, child development, child psychology, or a related field with at least 18 credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education.
- A bachelor's degree in any subject with at least six months of experience in a licensed, approved, or registered childcare facility.
- An associate's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field, including at least 18 credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education, with six months of work experience in a licensed, approved, or registered childcare facility.
- A diploma in child development/early childhood education or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, with one year of work experience in a licensed childcare facility.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate with at least one year of work experience in a licensed childcare facility, including supervision of childcare staff.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a background check, including:
- A check of the S.C. Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect.
- State and FBI fingerprint reviews (SLED and FBI results must be favorable).
- Cannot be listed on the Sex Offender Registry (S.C. Code of Laws Section 23-3-430).
- Cannot have been convicted of:
- Crimes listed in Chapter 3 of Title 16 (Offenses Against the Person).
- Crimes listed in Chapter 15 of Title 16 (Offenses Against Morality and Decency).
- The Crime of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (Section 16-17-490).
- Felonies classified as A through F in S.C. Code of Laws Chapter 1 of Title 16 at Section 16-1-10A.
- Similar offenses committed in other jurisdictions or under federal law.
