Sea Island Sprouts is a nurturing preschool opening soon in Port Royal, dedicated to fostering a creative, engaging, and supportive environment where children thrive. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we emphasize experiential learning, creativity, and community. Substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining this supportive environment when regular staff members are unavailable.
Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced and dependable Substitute Preschool Teachers to provide classroom support on an as-needed basis. Substitute teachers will step into classrooms, assist in creating a safe and nurturing environment, and ensure continuity of care for children aged 1-5. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with childcare experience who desire a flexible schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support: Follow lesson plans provided by the Lead Teacher to maintain consistency in the classroom.
- Child Engagement: Supervise and interact with children to support their learning and development through play, activities, and routines.
- Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of children during all activities, transitions, and meal times.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other staff members to meet the needs of the children and support the daily classroom routine.
- Adaptability: Step into various classrooms, age groups, and schedules as needed, ensuring smooth transitions for children and staff.
Qualifications (Minimum):
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of experience in a childcare or early childhood education setting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk up to 3 miles a day pushing a child buggy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in childcare or early childhood education, OR an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach is a plus.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
