*Compensation highly depends on experience and education. Applicants with more substantial experience should expect higher compensation.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Conduct geotechnical field investigations and analyze failures involving soils, foundations, and construction-related problems on commercial, residential, and industrial properties
- Determine the cause, origin, and extent of failures and losses relating to soil-related issues, landslides/slope failures, retaining walls, shallow, intermediate and deep foundation systems, earthwork grading, and stormwater runoff
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations
- Prepare oral and written reports in laymen's terms that document causes of failure, and extent of loss
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Position Requirements:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, Masters Degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic geotechnical engineer experience
- P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
- Must possess demonstrable strong writing skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
- Ability to drive to site locations, at times at unpredictable hours and travel via plane
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
