JOB DESCRIPTION: Grounds Maintenance and Pool Technician (Seasonal)
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
STATUS: Non-exempt
Job Summary:
The Grounds Maintenance and Pool Technician is responsible for the general maintenance of the landscaping and swimming pool of the property.
Qualification Summary:
Required Experience and Education:
High School Diploma/GED
Two years working in grounds, pool or general maintenance
Experience using related tools and equipment
Preferred Experience and Education:
Current certifications as required by Federal, State or Local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements (HVAC, Pool Operation, etc)
Knowledge of pool chemistry and maintenance procedures
Basic landscaping skills include mowing, trimming, and planting
Experience using Quore or other Hotel Maintenance related applications
Experience with brand standards
Travel:
Less than 10% travel requirement.
Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation and the ability to run off-property errands with minimal notice
Physical: Frequent sitting, standing, and moving about the facilities. Handling objects, products and equipment. Using keyboards and other office computer equipment. Occasionally push, pull and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must observe details at close range.
Other: Must speak English fluently. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Mathematical skills include basic math. Problem solving, reasoning, organizational abilities are often used. Ability to effectively multi-task.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning entrances and maintaining pathways, walkways, and pool deck
- Watering and maintaining flowers and other landscaping features
- Weeding, trimming, and mulching plants using gardening tools
- Cleaning the company’s grounds by removing garbage and litter daily
- Taking care of all groundskeeping supplies, tools and inventory
- Ensuring the grounds are clean, safe and usable by guest and visitors
- Removing dirt on sidewalks pavements and driveways
- Taking on special landscaping or planting projects as deemed necessary
- Regularly testing water chemistry (pH, chlorine levels) and adjusting chemicals as needed
- Vacuuming and brushing the pool
- Cleaning pool filters and skimmer baskets
- Inspecting and maintaining pool equipment (pumps, heaters, lights)
- Identifying and repairing minor pool leaks
- Cleaning pool decks and surrounding areas
- Opening and closing pools seasonally
- Report any unsafe conditions immediately
- Any and all other duties as assigned

This position reports directly to the Chief Engineer and Director of Hotel Operations.
