JOB SUMMARY:
Mystic Aquarium seeks an experienced and ambitious communication professional to serve as the lead copywriter for various digital and print applications. Additionally, this role will be responsible for building and maintaining a successful email marketing program internally and externally. The Content Development Specialist will also assist the External Relations department in writing press releases for media, planning and coordinating marketing events and promotions, and serving as the liaison for many community partners.
On a day-to-day basis, the ideal candidate will be working closely with individuals across the organization to develop, implement, track, and optimize Mystic Aquarium’s email marketing efforts and serve as the primary copywriter/copyeditor for multiple departments. The role will manage all components of the email marketing platform, from core strategy to list creation and management and work closely with other marketing team members to ensure brand standards across all platforms.

Media Relations
- Serve as primary copywriter for all digital content and marketing collateral (website, brochures, social media, blogs, etc.)
- Oversee the writing, editing, publishing and distribution of marketing materials to ensure that it aligns with best practices and brand standards

Communications
- Develop communications strategies and materials in support of the organization’s marketing and external relations plans
- Provide customer centric and guest focused reputation management across a variety of digital platforms
- Coordinate with the various departments to create an internal newsletter for staff members and volunteers

Content Development
- Build emails in the Prospect2 platform, manage and execute all email marketing communications and calendars
- Create comprehensive email lists for communication
- Organize and provide email analytics to Leadership Team
- Work collaboratively with the data team on automatic and manual list migrations
- Serve as main contact for email analytics and reporting
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Job Requirements: Must be willing to consistently provide guest service above and beyond expectation.
- 3 years’ experience in professional content development
- 3 years’ project management experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Thorough comprehension and experience in email marketing (i.e. MailChimp, etc.)
- Excellent ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced environment
- Proficient in a variety of social media platforms
- Proficient in or willing to learn email marketing platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of HTML / web development / SEO a plus
