Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled fiberglass and gelcoat technician for our growing company. You will repair, fabricate and construct fiberglass components, ensuring high quality standards are met. In addition, you’ll fix chips, scratches, and other gelcoat imperfections. The role requires attention to detail, proficiency with technical tools, and knowledge of composite materials and gelcoat applications.
Responsibilities
- Assess damage to fiberglass structures and surfaces, performing necessary repairs using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Fabricate new fiberglass parts and components as required.
- Prepare surfaces for fiberglass and gelcoat applications by cleaning, sanding, and masking as required.
- Color match and apply gelcoat to surfaces, ensuring smooth and even finish.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Maintain and clean tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with fiberglass and gelcoat in a similar role.
- Proficiency with tools and techniques used in fiberglass repair and gelcoat application.
- Keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality finishes and adherence to specifications.
- Ability to assess damage and determine the best course of action for repairs.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending, and lifting.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to work safely with hazardous materials.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork and documentation.
Education and Training
A high school diploma or equivalent
