POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, organizes, directs and controls Seabee cylinder and chrome manufacturing operations. Is accountable for profit / loss of each operating unit and takes all necessary actions to maximize the operation’s profitability (EBIT), growth and return on assets. Optimizes the utilization of all resources under his control to manufacture products within quality standards and cost objectives and deliver on schedule per customer request. Participates in the formulation and implementation of plans, policies, and procedures for the manufacturing operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists in the development of and implements plans, policies and procedures for each manufacturing facility relating to sales, production, engineering, purchasing, quality assurance and human resources to assure each unit achieves its overall profit, growth and return on asset goals.
- Achieves optimum operational profitability (each profit center within his assigned job scope) in both short and long-term through effective management control and review and application of all resources (human, technical, material, financial, plant and equipment).
- Directs the manufacture of all products at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications as to quality and quantity.
- Provides all necessary reports, analysis and other required data to the President to facilitate his decision-making.
- Develops and / or implements effective environmental protection plans to assure satisfactory compliance with pertinent governmental regulations and the continuation of goodwill and favorable public image of the operation in its community. Ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Develops and / or implements and ensures the consistent application of appropriate personnel policies, procedures and practices and where plants are union-free, ensures the continuance of same through establishing principles, policies and practices which support and enhance such status.
- Selects, trains, develops, motivates, reviews and controls staff to assure continuity of efficient operations in both near and long-terms.
- Effectively budgets, plans and controls expenses to assure meeting operational objectives.
- Develops new methods, processes and procedures to reduce manufacturing costs and costs of related services.
- Prepares financial budgets and forecasts (including flash reports) on a regular basis to accurately predict and control operating performance.
- Defines and recommends manufacturing objectives; develops specific short and long range plans and programs together with supporting budget requests.
- Works closely with Sales and Product Engineering relative to product costing, schedules, manufacturability, design and product application.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
A BS Degree in Engineering or Business Administration, advanced degree very desirable. Five (5) or more years of experience in a role with direct supervision of staff leaders and P & L responsibility. Broad gauge knowledge of production and / or manufacturing and financial controls. Understanding of human relations, behavioral concepts and demonstrated skills in assessing personnel and developing others. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of demonstrated skills in planning operations of a multiproduct, diverse business.
