Our Front of House team is seeking a confident Host with a passion for community and hospitality. Our hosts are the first and last opportunity we have to create a relaxed, welcoming, and connected experience, and we consider them one of the most integral parts of the restaurant. The position includes an opportunity for growth within the professional restaurant team.
We are seeking an individual who values integrity and teamwork. Our ideal candidate is adaptable and displays an eagerness and capacity to learn. They must sustain high quality standards at all times–managing stressful situations with a calm, friendly approach and maintaining a positive mindset while on duty.
Compensation Expectations: $20-25 an hour for night shifts, $18 an hour for brunch shifts

Requirements of the Job:
- Standing/walking for long periods of time
- Effectively communicating via written and verbal relays
- Basic math
- Clean, professional presentation

Role Duties:
- Checking in guests with an authentic, welcoming, and self-assured tone
- Making and confirming reservations efficiently via reservation software
- Answering phone calls
- Placing to-go orders
- Cultivating and sustaining guest relationships
- Managing the flow guests, keeping Seabird steps of service in mind
- Anticipating needs and communicating with staff to effectively problem solve
- Identifying situations in which to bring in management
- Exercising discretion regarding privacy needs of certain guests
- Knowing company information including but not limited to hours of operation, directions, names and titles of owners/chefs, etc.
A little about Seabird:
Seabird is a locally and seasonally driven sea-to-table restaurant at the heart of Historic Downtown Wilmington. We are a professional group of individuals who take pride in providing for the folks in our community. With our bar area, patio, and chef’s table in addition to our dining room, we are able to offer both reservation-based and walk-in seating.
Our restaurant is owned and operated by Dean Neff, a regionally recognized and James Beard nominated chef.
We currently serve dinner Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday, and Monday 5-9 pm and Friday and Saturday 5-10 pm. We serve brunch Saturdays and Sundays 10-1 pm.
