The Plant Operations Safety Manager have oversight and management of activities for the workplace safety of a 900,000-square-foot pork harvest facility with 2600 employees. Responsible for implementing and managing all safety compliance policies/procedures to ensure adherence with local, state, and federal agencies, emphasizing continuous improvement to control incidents effectively and health exposures in the workplace. Ensure all plant employees, vendors, and contractors adhere to the established health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions; to safeguard the environment and protect the well-being of individuals while minimizing any risk to the business.

Responsibilities & Tasks
- Fosters a partnering relationship with senior leadership throughout the plant by building high levels of professional credibility and mutual trust and ensuring internal clients have access to high-quality safety advice and guidance to support the operational business strategy and plans.
- Responsible for developing operational safety policies and monitoring procedures associated with the operations' health, safety, and environment to achieve specific outputs/results.
- Ensures comprehensive safety audits of the facility are proactively conducted for compliance with OSHA standards and company policies and procedures. Communicate results of audits with senior leadership and work with operational managers to implement corrective actions.
- Responsible for the timely completion of root cause analysis associated with near-misses and incident investigations and collaborates with operational management on implementing corrective actions.
- Develop, analyze, and communicate key safety trends to identify the impact on the business by using data to guide continuous improvement, which aligns with business objectives.
- Ensures all records are maintained in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Directs, manages, and sets appropriate performance objectives for the safety department and reports by holding them accountable for achieving results and taking appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
- Responsible for integration of the EHS Management System (KPA) in the facility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, industrial hygiene, or equivalent degree preferred.
- 5 years of industrial/occupational health & safety experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment developing programs and procedures that proactive control, eliminate and prevent work-related injuries/illness. Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a plus.
- Leader with the ability to collaborate and work across multiple functions and disciplines, hold team members accountable for their commitments, finish projects on time, and meet their goals.
