Summary:
The Golf Course Irrigation Technician, under the supervision of the golf course superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent, is responsible for the programming, operation, and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system(s). This role ensures that the course’s turf, landscaping, and greens receive appropriate water levels to maintain optimal playing conditions and the overall health of the grounds. The Irrigation Technician is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Irrigation System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, including valves, pipes, pumps, and sprinkler heads.
- System Operations: Manage daily water cycles through the central control system and operate irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting: Monitor the irrigation system, make repairs as needed, and operate portable pumps and other equipment as directed.
- Project Assistance: Assist in overseeing landscape and golf course irrigation projects and participate in special projects as requested.
- Course Support: Assist in daily operations such as mowing greens, aprons, fairways, roughs, tees, and other areas if needed. Participate in cultivation practices such as aeration, verticutting, spiking, and operating spray equipment and spreaders.
- Record Keeping: Maintain and update water usage logs daily and complete requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
- Collaboration: Report any irregularities in turf quality to the superintendent and/or assistant superintendent and assist in prioritizing day-to-day irrigation tasks on the golf course.
- Attendance and Reliability: Maintain a consistent and regular attendance record, and be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable schedule in accordance with business demands.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor, including special projects and additional tasks as needed.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in irrigation systems and/or golf course maintenance is preferred.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot irrigation equipment and tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and operating machinery.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent helpful.
- Minimum of one year related job experience.
Language Skills:
The individual must have strong written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees and clients at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
Availability:
Weekends, Holidays, Evenings, Days and Monthly Rotating Schedule.
