Position Overview:
Seabury School seeks a passionate and dedicated Lower School Teacher to join our vibrant learning community. The successful candidate will inspire and challenge students while creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment. This full-time, exempt position is ideal for an educator who understands the unique needs of gifted learners and is excited to develop innovative, inquiry-driven curricula.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Excellence:
- Design and deliver engaging, challenging, and meaningful lessons that nurture students' intellectual curiosity while building essential foundational skills.
- Provide differentiated instruction to meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of gifted and neurodiverse students.
- Student Support:
- Build positive relationships with students to support their academic growth and overall well-being.
- Develop accommodations, flexible seating arrangements, and adaptive strategies to ensure all students can access learning experiences effectively.
- Foster a calm, inclusive classroom environment that promotes equity, acceptance, and respect for all.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Partner with families through regular communication, providing updates on classroom activities, student progress, and upcoming plans.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and share best practices for supporting gifted learners.
- Professional Growth:
- Stay current with research and trends in gifted and neurodiverse education.
- Participate actively in professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
- Community Engagement:
- Supervise students during recess and other non-instructional times to ensure a safe, positive school environment.
- Participate in school events, open houses, and community activities as a representative of Seabury School.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range of $55,000 to $62,500, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Seabury School offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching in independent schools or with gifted/neurodiverse learners is highly desirable.
- A commitment to fostering a love of learning and an understanding of students’ individual needs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Schedule:
The position is a full-time, on-campus role that typically follows an 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM schedule, with occasional evening or weekend commitments for school events.
