What are the responsibilities and job description for the Melting Operations Technician position at SeaCast, Inc.?
We are seeking a Melt Support team member at SeaCast Inc. This role is essential in ensuring the efficiency of our melting operations, contributing directly to the quality of our cast products. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the investment casting process and experience in operating vacuum furnaces to create high-quality investment castings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the melting process of metals to ensure optimal quality for casting.
- Read travelers and record melt data.
- Operate melt furnaces.
- Occasionally weigh out metal and alloy additives.
- Observe metal and adjust controls to maintain specified temperature.
- Measure and record data in the computer database.
- Prep and inspect molds for autoclave, insulation, and firing.
- Assist in the metal pouring process.
- Follow all safety guidelines established by the company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
- Follow instructions and record accurate information daily.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Specific tasks also include shell pulling, patching molds, and routine maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Previous foundry experience is recommended.
- Ability to follow instructions, read, and write in English.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to work in difficult working conditions, which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, molten metal, and other elements for extended periods.

- Ability to climb up and down stairs regularly.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred and twenty pounds.
