GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Goal: The paraprofessional shall help students make growth by assisting them in small group settings and will aide as needed to help the school run seamlessly.
Overview: The paraprofessional shall have college experience and have a love of working with children. Associates degree is preferred.
Responsible to: Administrator
Supervises: May supervise students.
Evaluation: Paraprofessional performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel and this job description.

REQUIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES
The paraprofessional shall:

Essential Functions
The paraprofessional shall:
1. Reflect the purpose of the school in every activity.
2. Cooperate with the Board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
3. Follow schedule and directions given by the administrator.
4. Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good learning environment.
5. Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered setting.
6. Follow given plans.
7. Work to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his/her best work.
8. Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy.
9. Be flexible and adaptive to help the school day run seamlessly.
10. Keep accurate records.
11. Keep the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies in student progress.
12. Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and the general public.
13. Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
14. Seek the counsel of the administrator, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.
15. Attend and participate in scheduled inservices, retreats, committee, and faculty meetings.
16. Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
17. Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
Supplemental Functions
The paraprofessional shall:
1. Supervise students and activities as assigned.
2. Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities when possible.
3. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Associate’s Degree Preferred
2. Experience working with children
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Must be able to work as scheduled and report to work on time.
2. Must be able to sit for up to 4 hours per day.
3. Able to lift 25 pounds.
4. Able to type up to 4 hours per day.
5. Possess excellent communication skills, orally and in writing.
6. Able to enter, store, and retrieve data in a computer.
7. Able to work in a stressful working environment.
8. Can work on multi-tasks and meet multi-deadlines.
9. Can supervise effectively and efficiently students assigned to them.
10. Has access to personal transportation.
11. Able to establish rapport and build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
