What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mount Pleasant Student Worship Leader position at Seacoast Church?

This position reports to: Mount Pleasant Worship Pastor
The mission: Seacoast Church goes all out in our mission to help others “Find God, Grow your Faith, Discover your Purpose, and Make a Difference.” The Custom Worship Leader will provide strategic leadership bringing authenticity and accountability to our Custom experience each week.
Key Responsibilities
Implementation of Vision for Custom Worship
- Drive Inspiration for Custom Worship based on Seacoast Worship’s vision
- Lead and oversee the Custom Worship Team with excellence and accountability every week, in line with the vision of the Pastor of Seacoast Worship
- Collaborate with the Worship Pastor and Student Pastor of Mount Pleasant to develop a culture in Worship and Production that aligns with Seacoast Worship’s heart, Custom Student Ministries, and the vision of the Custom Student Pastor
Driving the Process
- Help develop a worship ministry model that is consistent with the vision of Seacoast Worship and Custom Student Ministries, which can be replicated weekly and at all Custom events
- Oversee all aspects related to Worship and Production for the Custom experience at Mount Pleasant and oversee or assist all aspects pertaining to Worship and Production for the Custom experience Centrally
- Maintain weekly communication with the Mount Pleasant Worship Pastor, the Mount Pleasant Student Pastor, and the Central Custom team to debrief and address any needs. Report any Production issues to Mount Pleasant/Central Production team
- Implement the vision of Seacoast Music’s original songwriting and recording by either co-writing with students and helping them bring their songs to life or overseeing the process that achieves the same. This role will aid the Pastor of Seacoast Music in developing and nurturing Custom Worship, as well as fostering the creativity of student vocalists and musicians in the church
- Assist in coaching and developing SEU Worship Practicum students and establish systems and training for students assigned to Custom, as and when applicable
Worship Responsibilities
- Lead and assist in planning and executing Custom Weekly Services, One Nights, and Summer Camp. This role also entails leading worship for Seacoast Worship events in all venues, as well as special events such as Christmas and Easter services, conferences, and church-wide staff events
- Lead with passion and energy, inspiring our staff and Dream Team to strive for the best experience possible for our students and attendees every week
- Foster meaningful encounters with God through worship and aim to create a weekend experience that people will want to repeat
- Collaborate with the Pastor of Seacoast Worship and the Mount Pleasant Worship Pastor to develop themes and song selection options that deliver a worship experience inspired by God and aligned with the weekly teaching
- Oversee the creation and resourcing of vocal parts for Seacoast Worship events, primarily focusing on resourcing the Mount Pleasant Worship Center, as well as other venues and campuses through this initiative
Production Responsibilities
- Oversee Custom Production by ensuring that lyrics, songs, backgrounds, and slides are correctly loaded into ProPresenter. Take charge of programming lighting and setting up lighting cues for the entire service. Ensure that all equipment is prepared, and instruments are ready for the worship team
- Lead or organize Production team meeting before each weekly service to discuss the service flow and create seamless transitions
- Take responsibility for resourcing the Mid-Week Run-Through each week, which involves communicating with the Lead Worship Leader, Music Director, and ensuring that songs are in the correct key and that Ableton is set up and ready
Development
- Implement weekly systems for worship team musicians, Lead Worship Leaders, Music Directors, Production team, and vocalists that can be replicated and taught to new team members
- Attend all workshops and developmental events
- Collaborate with the Mount Pleasant Worship Pastor to develop and maintain a consistent vision, coaching, and ongoing development to Custom worship leaders, musicians, and Production teams
- Partner with the Pastor of Seacoast Worship and the Central Worship Pastor to coach and develop SEU Worship practicum students.
- Mentor Custom students who are involved in the worship team and conduct yearly evaluations with them to foster discipleship and facilitate growth
Pastoral Duties (If licensed or Ordained)
· Participate in Pastor-On-Call rotation and conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms, and communion as needed
· Provide mentorship and counseling to members of the worship and production teams if needed
Team Leader
- Possess exceptional motivational skills to effectively manage a diverse team, maintain team focus, and boost morale
- Develop and care for teams to fulfil the vision of the Pastor of Seacoast Worship and the goals of Seacoast Church
- Create a positive team environment that inspires potential worship and production team members, challenging them to take the next steps towards growth and development. Emphasize the team values of Core, Character, and Craft
Miscellaneous
- Attend all required meetings, with the Seacoast Worship team, Custom Student Ministry team, and Seacoast Church staff
- Stay engaged in staff communications through email and Microsoft Teams, ensuring that notifications are enabled during work hours and responding promptly and appropriately to all staff communications
- Collaborate with Mount Pleasant Worship Pastor to address any budget needs and requirements for Custom Worship and Production events or activities
Job Essentials

- Possess adequate musical/vocal talent, preferably with a music degree or equivalent training/experience
- Demonstrated spiritual gift in leading others with ability to see the big picture and direct worship experiences, including production elements (stage set, lighting, audio, and projection)
- Ability to effectively recruit, lead, and train musicians and worship leaders
- Possess a discerning ear and the ability to both provide and receive candid feedback
