What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Specialist position at SeaComm?
Role :
Responsible for the implementation of the HR Strategy including employee relations, payroll, compensation, recruitment, turnover / retention and benefits.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct pre-employment screenings such as criminal background, credit investigations and employment reference checks.
- Process new hires during orientation session; explain benefits, policies and procedures of the credit union and enroll in benefits programs.
- Perform all payroll procedures such as entering data, processing time cards, monitor employee leave, vacations, benefits, promotions and terminations. Ensure that documentation trails are complete and up to date. Coordinate payroll process with outside vendor.
- Respond to all employee questions, disseminate information on benefits or policies or escalate to HR Manager. Research and respond to questions.
- Create and maintain human resources reports on HRIS software such as status reports, compensation analysis reports, termination reports, etc. Update and maintain monthly DOL statistics report, annual OSHA report and year-end HR reports.
- Assist with new hire and annual benefits enrollment for group health, dental, life insurance, long-term disability, AFLAC and cafeteria plan benefits.
- Develop partnerships with internal staff that enable the Human Resources function to provide appropriate services to business partners.
- Monitor ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA and other compliance issues.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills :
Experience : Two to five years of similar or related experience.
Education : (1) A two year college degree, or (2) Completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) Completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) Job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills : Work involves much personal contact with others inside and / or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills : Must have experience with benefits enrollment and processing payroll as well as using an HR database. Proficiency using MS Word and Excel. Must be detail oriented, able to work independently and have excellent multi-tasking skills.
Position Type : Full Time, Hourly
Hours : 40 hrs. per week
Current Schedule : 8a -5p Monday-Friday
Pay Range : $21.19 - $25.00
Actual starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
