SEACORP is seeking a well-qualified Combat Systems Test Engineer - Former Fire Control Technicians.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Summary: SEACORPis seeking full-time Combat Systems Test Engineers in Northern VA andMiddletown, RI. Selected candidates will join teams responsible for thedesign, development, and testing of submarine combat systems. Successful candidates will be responsible for test execution, test resultevaluation, and verification of system functionality under development. Additionally, candidates will be responsible for ensuring functional andperformance specifications and standards are met. Individuals willinvestigate system, software or hardware issues and will document detailfindings in program trouble reports, as well as participate in theidentification and verification of solutions. Responsibilities willinclude developing test plans and procedures as well as generating detailedtest reports. Ideal candidates will have working knowledge of AN/BYG-1Payload Control, Weapon Control, TacticalControl, Common Infrastructure, and/or Information Assurance subsystems.
Qualifications:
Education: Advanced submarine technical training (e.g. Navy "A" or "C" School) and a minimum of 5 years of Submarine Combat Control Weapon Systemexperience.
Experience: Working knowledge of AN/BYG-1 & Weapons Launch Consoles is required. Navy experience as a Fire Control Technician (FT) or similar rating is desired.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
Location: Fairfax, VA
Travel: Quarterly (approximately 4 times a year)
Clearance: Secret
SEACORP follows ITAR guidelines for the work it performs as a federal contractor. Consequently, ship is needed for all positions requiring a security clearance.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: This position operates in standard Office, Assembly Laboratory, and Aboard Vessel/Shipyard environments. Standard offices and laboratories: Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens. Movement between points within the same office or between buildings. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting. In shipyards and aboard vessels: Significant use of hands to operate equipment and tools. Significant lifting of 40 lbs. Sitting, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, lying prone, and squatting on a daily basis. Work is performed in highly variable work conditions to include seasonable variations in weather and temperature. High probability of working in confined spaces where movement is restricted. Dust, noise and constant activity associated with the movements of materials and people, and the fabrication of steel, including welding and the use of overhead cranes/hoists. Personal Protective Equipment: safety shoes and hard hat required; hearing protection and safety glasses recommended.
