Job Summary : SEACORP is seeking a candidate to support increasingly growing System Safety demands associated with existing and emergent undersea weapon systems supported by Code 45 Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport RI.
Job Responsibilities:
Education : Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline. Substitute education for years of relative military experience and military schools.
Experience : Minimum 3 years of related experience.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - This positions requires the following physical activities: Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and looking at computer screens. Work is performed in generally consistent environmental conditions with some seasonality for temperature differences and lighting.

Job Responsibilities:
- Safety reviews of Engineering Change Proposals, Requests For Variation, Change Notices, and Fleet trouble reports.
- System Safety analysis of emergent programs & products, resulting in written Preliminary Hazard Analyses to be presented to and approved by DoD/NUWC program management. Analysis includes recommendations for mitigations to be put in-place in order to reduce the likelihood and/or severity of a hazard to a minimal acceptable level.
- Review & Safety Analysis of Undersea Weapon System descriptive documentation, including introductory design details for upgrades to existing in-service weapon systems, emergent weapon systems, and/or special projects.
- Taking an active role in failure reviews as a member of the NUWCDIVNPT Fleet Trouble Review Board.
- Safety review of Instructional documentation related to the transportation, installation/removal, operation, maintenance and repair of undersea weapon systems and components to ensure instructions do not direct unsafe processes, and contain appropriate Notes, Warnings, and Cautions to ensure operator safety. This includes shipboard and shore-based Technical Manuals, Operator Instructions, and repair bulletins.
- Safety review of Top-Level Requirements, Analysis of Alternatives, and other project/program-related decision aids.

- A basic understanding of system operational principals/phases as they relate to design/development, integration, transportation, installation/removal, operation, and maintenance/repair.
- Understanding of mechanical systems.
- Ability to access & research Department of Defense (DoD) instructions, standards, & specifications (such as MIL-STD 882E, ASTM, ASEE, ASME, OSHA, etc.). for use in determining guidelines & acceptable factors-of-safety for mechanical properties and safety standards.
